Regional relief team leaves for Jamaica today
A regional relief team supporting Jamaica’s recovery from Hurricane Melissa left Barbados this morning.

The team will provide assessments of the damage following the passage of the Category Five storm.

Captain Robert Harewood, Deputy Director of the Department of Emergency Management, spoke to CBC News just before take-off.

Captain Harewood says the deployment represents Caribbean cooperation.

The initial team will be in Jamaica for seven days and will also be looking at the economic shock the country is experiencing.
