Putin Aide Levels Big Charge, Says West Pressured Artistes To Skip Event, Sabotage ‘Intervision’
Russia’s Intervision 2025 wrapped up with Vietnam’s Durc Phuc crowned champion, but the contest was overshadowed by controversy. An American participant dropped out at the last minute, which Moscow blamed on Western political pressure. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the West of trying to sabotage the event and hailed Intervision as a cultural counterweight to Eurovision, promoting “traditional family values.” The revived Soviet-era music contest saw performers from 23 countries, including China and India, compete for a $360,000 prize. Kyrgyzstan and Qatar placed second and third, respectively.
