Pro-Asylum Activists Clash With Anti-Migrant Protesters in Amersfoort | #shorts #HindustanTimes

Footage shows anti-riot officers forming lines between the rival groups to prevent direct confrontation, as both sides chanted slogans, waved flags and brandished flags. Pro-asylum demonstrators carried banners with messages including ‘Refugees Welcome’. Counter-protesters were later seen facing off with police.

“Everywhere war is bad. And if we don’t have war here, why would we shut them out?” a pro-asylum activist said. “We’re all human, there’s no difference between us, the Palestinians or Ukrainians.”

Another protester described migration as part of human history, calling restrictions a ‘crime against us as humans’. The demonstrator, who has lived in the Netherlands for 13 years, stressed that “our rights as people to seek a better life” must be defended, highlighting the vulnerability of those targeted.

Authorities confirmed six arrests during the unrest, which comes amid an intensifying debate over Dutch migration policy. Local media reported that Amersfoort’s mayor paused a plan last week to house around 750 people in one or more asylum shelters following community protests.

The mayor also acknowledged receiving threats, though he insisted the decision was not influenced by intimidation. Protests against asylum shelters have escalated nationwide, particularly since right-wing riots erupted in The Hague on 20 September
