President Xi visits a time-honored bakery, sparks New Year snack craze #CGTN

Ahead of the Spring Festival, President Xi Jinping stopped by Beijing’s time-honored Daoxiangcun bakery. He picked three traditional treats himself — honey sesame twists, cream-flavored twists, and fried jujube pastries. Staff say these items quickly became the shop’s New Year best-sellers.

“I could feel his concern for time-honored brands,” said the shop manager.

The bakery is in Longfusi commercial area, a neighborhood that has undergone urban renewal: old streets and traditional shops preserved, new cultural attractions added, creating a festive hub where Beijing’s heritage and modern city life come together.
