Premier Li stresses correct understanding of governance performance
Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of officials correctly understanding what it means to perform well and reiterated the commitment of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to practice full and rigorous self-governance. #ChinaAgenda2026

Li made the remarks while delivering the government work report at the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress on Thursday.

The premier said that new developments and tasks require better performance from the government. Officials at all levels must closely align with the CPC Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, in terms of thinking, stance and action.

Li said all officials must resolutely take on their political responsibility to ensure full and rigorous self-governance of the CPC and fully implement the central leadership’s eight-point decision on improving work conduct.

He also stressed that China will continue to tighten regulation and oversight over the allocation and exercise of power, make substantial efforts to improve Party conduct, build integrity, fight corruption and address misconduct that directly affects the public.

“We will make sure that officials have a correct understanding of what it means to perform well and act accordingly by delivering for the people through hard work and in accordance with objective laws,” Li said.
