Ottawa ready for ‘whatever’ Trump’s tariff plan is after Supreme Court loss | Power & Politics
Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc says the U.S. Supreme Court ruling striking down broad tariffs won’t help most Canadian trade, and that Ottawa remains ‘very serene and very focused on the work we need to do.’ LeBlanc responds to questions about whether Canada will still enjoy a CUSMA exemption under replacement tariffs by saying the U.S. never granted the carve-out ‘because they want to be nice to us,’ but because it’s in the ‘American economic interest.’
