HUNGARIAN PRIME MINISTER IN WASHINGTON
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is set to meet U.S. President Donald Trump in a bid to kick-start a new era of cooperation between the two countries. Facing increasing pressure from the opposition ahead of the 2026 elections, the Hungarian leader wants his latest meeting with Trump to deliver results, with attempts at shielding Budapest from the effects of U.S. sanctions on Russian oil companies high on the agenda.

GUNVOR BACKS FROM DEAL WITH RUSSIAN LUKOIL
Russian assets are becoming increasingly toxic due to sanctions. The Swiss commodity trading company Gunvor has withdrawn its bid to purchase the international branch of Russian oil company Lukoil. The announcement came following a statement from the U.S. Treasury Department, which said it would not approve the deal.

Donald Trump is eyeing the mineral wealth of Central Asia. As he hosted the leaders of five countries of the region at the White House, the U.S. President made it clear access to critical resources remains Washington’s priority.
