Rising tensions are putting nuclear safety at risk, Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA tells CGTN.

Iran has warned that any strike on the Bushehr power plant could trigger a devastating regional disaster, with radiation threatening the Persian Gulf and beyond.

Reza Najafi, Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA, told CGTN: ‘The consequences of possible attacks on nuclear power plants are very grave. You know the power plant is located in the coastal area of the Persian Gulf. All the water in the Persian Gulf, in the Oman sea and elsewhere will be polluted. The radiation will be disseminated through those areas, and the people should evacuate.’

Despite global calls for restraint, the fighting continues.
