A bluefin tuna has sold for a record-breaking $3.2 million at the first New Year auction at Tokyo’s Toyosu wholesale seafood market. A Tokyo-based sushi chain bid 510 million yen. The prized tuna was landed at the port of Oma in Aomori Prefecture in northeastern Japan. The winning bid far exceeds the previous high of 333 million yen set in 2019.
