A magnitude 7.5 tremor struck on Monday off Aomori Prefecture’s eastern coast at 11:15 PM. A tsunami warning was in place for several prefectures. NHK World’s Endo Yuka was in Hachinohe, one of the cities closest to the epicenter, to explain how residents were affected by the powerful earthquake.
