NGOs now have opportunity to become officially certified
Non-profit, non-governmental organisations in Barbados now have the opportunity to become officially certified.

The Aspire Foundation has partnered with the Barbados National Standards Institution to develop a rigorous certification scheme for these third-sector organisations.

Chairman of the Peter and Jan Boos Family Foundation, Peter Boos, says the new framework will help NGOs align with international best practices.

He was speaking at a Third Sector Workshop, sponsored by his foundation and the Sandals Foundation, which brought together public and private sector leaders to explore ways to strengthen the sector.

At the same time, Mr. Boos is suggesting that accredited and certified third-sector organisations should receive compensation from Government for essential services provided to the public.
