News18 Urdu World News : Residents rush outdoors as 5.7 magnitude quake strikes Bangladesh | N18G

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Bangladesh on Friday (November 21), the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said, sending residents in Dhaka rushing out of buildings and onto the streets.

Private company employee Sadman Sakib said he had never felt such intense tremors before and immediately evacuated the office with his colleagues when they saw the furniture shaking.

Tremors were also felt in eastern states in neighbouring India that border Bangladesh, but there were no immediate reports of damage, authorities said.

The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake’s epicenter was in the city of Narsingdi, about 40 km (25 miles) from Dhaka, the capital. The quake hit a depth of 10 km (6 miles), according to the GFZ.
