New South Wales Introduces Strict Gun Limits and Protest Restrictions | WION

Australia’s most populous state, New South Wales, has announced sweeping new laws tightening gun ownership and expanding police powers following security concerns. Under the proposed changes, individual firearms licences will be capped at four guns, while farmers will be allowed to own up to 10. Gun club membership will become mandatory for all firearms licence holders.

The legislation also grants police broader authority to restrict or ban protests for up to three months following a declared terror attack. State officials say the measures are aimed at improving public safety, while critics have raised concerns over civil liberties and the right to protest.
