President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., drew sharp criticism from Democrats who called it government overreach. But in New Mexico, a Democratic governor who deployed the National Guard to assist police has seen violent crime fall in the state’s largest city of Albuquerque.
