Jordan moves to protect 2,000-year-old olive trees

In Jordan’s Maysar region, north of Amman, ancient al-Mihrass olive trees have stood for thousands of years. In 2025, UNESCO inscribed al-Mihrass on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Today, local communities are working to protect these rare trees as their numbers continue to decline.
