At 62, Zhang Xuecai is the sole ranger on a mountaintop in China’s Shanxi. Every two hours, day and night, he scans the forest for fire risks. Zhang patrols daily and must counsel passing strangers on fire prevention. “To say I’m not lonely is a lie,” he admits. #FacesOfChina
