MPs call for local veterinary degree in Singapore
With about one in three households owning a pet, the need for a local training pipeline of vets is increasing, several MPs said in parliament on Wednesday (Apr 8).

This would guarantee better training standards, said MP Kenneth Tiong, while MP Diana Pang said a local degree programme will allow capable Singaporeans to pursue a veterinary career without the high cost of studying overseas.

Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan said in his response that the government is looking at manpower projections and resource requirements to study a local programme, and that there are already programmes with some polytechnics as well.
