Man Goes To Spit Tobacco On Railway Track In Bihar, Gets Hit By Train, Dies
A man died on Tuesday after being hit by the Vande Bharat Express while spitting tobacco on Platform No. 2 at Barh station under the Danapur railway division. A video of the incident also went viral. At the time, the man had not been identified. On Wednesday evening, his family came to know about the incident through social media.

The family reached Barh station on Thursday morning, where they identified the body kept at the post-mortem facility. The Government Railway Police (GRP) completed the formalities and handed over the body to the family.

According to the family, the deceased was deaf and mute since birth. He had left home on Tuesday morning to visit his in-laws in the Saksohara police station area of Barh subdivision. He boarded a train and reached Barh but did not go to his in-laws’ place. Instead, he bought vegetables and Horlicks in Barh and was preparing to return home. Due to his hearing impairment, he could not hear the train horn, and while spitting tobacco, he came under the Vande Bharat Express.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Raut (55), a resident of Shahabad village in Nalanda district.

His younger brother, Kundan Kumar, said they learned about the incident through social media. He added that Sanjay had boarded a train from Bakhtiyarpur, but it halted directly at Barh. While he was returning home from Barh, he was hit by the train.
