Mainland: DPP remarks on Jimmy Lai case reveal secessionist intentions
Following the Hong Kong judiciary’s sentencing of former media tycoon Jimmy Lai, Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party authorities criticized the decision, calling it a Mainland-led suppression of freedom and human rights under the guise of national security. In response, the Mainland stated that the DPP’s comments once again expose their intent to destabilize Hong Kong and pursue “secession” for political gain.
