Boxer Tangkwa earns around $120 per fight – significantly higher than Thailand’s average daily wage of approximately $15. But child boxers also experience significant risks to their health.
Professor Jiraporn Laothamatas spent years scanning the brains of child fighters and found shocking evidence that Muay Thai causes irreversible brain damage. She also found child boxers can have decreased memory and lower IQ.
