Lavrov’s UNGA Warning Comes True, NATO Scrambles Jets In Panic As Heavy Bombers Rain Hell On Ukraine
Russia unleashed one of its heaviest overnight assaults on Ukraine between September 27–28, deploying Tu-95 and MiG-31K bombers along with swarms of attack drones, according to monitoring channels and Ukrainian officials. The Kyiv Independent reported that at least eight people were injured in strikes on Kyiv and Fastiv, while explosions caused fires and infrastructure damage in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi. Dashcam footage dated September 26 captured the moment a drone hit a busy road in Zaporizhzhia. Ukraine’s Air Force warned that Russian bombers had launched from both Olenya and Engels air bases, triggering air raid sirens across multiple regions. Poland scrambled fighter jets and temporarily closed airspace over Lublin and Rzeszów as attacks raged in western Ukraine near NATO’s borders. The strikes came just as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the UN General Assembly in New York, warning NATO and the EU that “any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response.” The escalation follows NATO allegations of repeated Russian airspace violations, which Moscow has denied. Recent weeks have seen Russia step up its aerial campaign, including a record-breaking barrage earlier in September involving more than 800 drones and multiple missile strikes on Kyiv.
