Kilauea Unleashes 1,500-Foot Lava Fountains in Massive Eruption | Volcano | #shorts #HindustanTimes

Footage shows molten lava spewing into the air and cascading down the slopes of the volcano.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the lava began erupting from the north and south vents between 20:05 and 20:50 local time on Friday (6:00 and 6:50 GMT on Saturday). Lava grew rapidly from both vents, feeding large flows on the floor of Halemaumau crater.

Reportedly, the south vent produced fountains just under 1,500 feet (500 metres), while the fountain from the north vent reached about 1,100 feet (330 metres).

Together, they marked the highest single fountain and the highest pair of fountains seen during this eruption.

The USGS reported that the gas plume above the fountains rose more than 16,0000 feet (5,000 metres) above ground level.

Located at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kilauea is about 321 km (200 miles) from the state’s capital, Honolulu. It’s one of six active volcanoes in Hawaii.
