Global OTTs that dominate the media market are actively utilizing K-content.

They plan to capture the global market by promoting Korean dramas and entertainment.

K-content, which has become a core industry beyond a cultural craze, was reported by Kim Hye-joo.

Following ‘Squid Game’, the globally popular ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ has also elevated K-content from a cultural phenomenon to a core industry.

This trend is clearly reflected in the business plans of global OTTs for next year.

This includes dramas based on popular webtoons, as well as a follow-up travel entertainment show featuring BTS’s Jungkook and Jimin.

Global OTTs are targeting the global market using K-content as a stepping stone.

In fact, Disney+ is focusing its production capabilities, including production costs, on K-content.

Netflix also announced plans to expand its investment in K-content, aiming to continue the record success of ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ and ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’.

The domestic market share of global OTTs is around 50%.

There are concerns that the local content ecosystem must strengthen its competitiveness to avoid being shaken by the aggressive moves of global OTTs.
