इस बिल के ड्राफ्ट को कैबिनेट ने मंज़ूरी दे दी है। बिल के मुताबिक हिंदू हो या मुस्लिम अगर दूसरी शादी की तो सात साल तक की सज़ा हो सकती है…इस बिल में उन पीड़ित महिलाओं को मुआवज़ा देने के लिए भी एक फंड का ऐलान किया गया है जो बहुविवाह से पीड़ित हैं..हालांकि आदिवासी और छठी अनुसूची वाले इलाकों में इसके प्रावधान लागू नहीं होंगे…इस बिल को 25 नवंबर से शुरू होने वाले शीतकालीन सत्र में लाए जाने की तैयारी है..उससे पहले कैबिनेट ने इसे मंज़ूरी दे दी है।

The Cabinet has approved the draft of this bill. According to the bill, a second marriage, whether Hindu or Muslim, could result in a punishment of up to seven years. The bill also announces a fund to compensate women who suffer from polygamy. However, its provisions will not apply to tribal and Sixth Schedule areas. This bill is set to be introduced in the winter session, which begins on November 25th. The Cabinet has approved it before then.
