आज एशिया कप में UAE के साथ मैच शुरू होने से पहले पाकिस्तान ने जमकर ड्रामा किया. पहले पाकिस्तान ने UAE के साथ मैच खेलने से इंकार कर दिया. फिर बड़े बेआबरू होकर अपने प्लेयर्स को मैदान में भेज दिया. असल में पाकिस्तान ने दो दो बार चिठ्ठी लिखकर ICC से मैच रैफरी एंडी पायक्रॉफ्ट को हटाने की मांग की थी. साथ में धमकी दी थी कि अगर मैच रैफरी को नहीं हटाया गया तो पाकिस्तान टूर्नामेंट से हट जाएगा. एशिया कप का बॉयकॉट कर देगा. लेकिन ICC ने दोनों बार पाकिस्तान की मांग ठुकरा दी. मैच रैफरी को हटाने से इंकार कर दिया. इसके बाद जब दुबई में पाकिस्तान की टीम होटल से स्टेडियम के लिए रवाना हो रही थी. उसी वक्त लाहौर से फोन आ गया. पाकिस्तान के खिलाड़ी बस से उतर कर वापस होटल में चले गए.

In fact, Pakistan had written two letters to the ICC, demanding the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft, and threatened to withdraw from the tournament and boycott the Asia Cup altogether if their demand wasn’t met. However, the ICC rejected Pakistan’s request both times, refusing to remove the match referee. Then, just as the Pakistani team was leaving their hotel in Dubai to travel to the stadium, they received a call from Lahore. The Pakistani players got off the bus and returned to the hotel.
