Russian State Duma Chair Vyacheslav Volodin delivered a sharp warning during a plenary session in Moscow, condemning attempts by Western nations to seize Russian assets. Volodin called those involved “thieves and fraudsters,” accusing them of hiding behind the European Union while pushing for the expropriation of Russian property.

He urged lawmakers to develop countermeasures and instructed them to prepare an official appeal to the Russian government. His remarks come as EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has reportedly proposed options that include using frozen Russian assets to help fund Ukraine’s financial needs.
