Government plans to release land for new not-for-profit private hospital in the east
A tender will be launched later this year to build a new private not-for-profit hospital in the east. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung announced this at Mount Alvernia Hospital’s 65th anniversary. Assoc Professor Alec Morton, from the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Duke-NUS, tells us what gap this second hospital could fill, who might benefit from its services, the model in which it operates from and how it differs from profit or public hospitals.
