Minister of Land and Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein said the removal of the oversight of the County Medical Officers of Health from the construction planning permit system will add to the ease of doing business in the country.
He noted that a modern construction permitting system that promotes efficiency while reducing bureaucracy is required to boost development and investment in the country.
Minister Hosein explained that eliminating the requirement for CMOH approval will significantly reduce the average processing time for completion of certificates given that sanitation and risk to public health will be mitigated through assessment by other regulatory bodies.
The Minister said the current legislation is outdated with duplications in granting planning permissions.
Minister Hosein revealed that in one corporation, over 200 plans are waiting to be approved.
