Trump threat to label antifa terrorist group is “authoritarian gamesmanship,” Rutgers historian says
Historian Mark Bray of Rutgers University says President Donald Trump’s threat to designate the antifa movement as a terrorist organization is a “transparent effort to demonize the left.”
He explained that antifa is not a centralized group but a loose collection of activists opposing fascism.
Bray noted the most serious violence linked to antifa in the U.S. has involved fistfights, not terrorism.
He warned the label could be used as a pretext to target dissent and political opposition.
