Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro said countries gathered in Belem, in the Brazilian Amazon, for the UN climate summit should “forget” the U.S. president on climate action, while Chile’s President Gabriel Boric also recalled Trump’s words at September’s UN General Assembly denying the climate crisis.

Leaders representing over 100 countries met on Thursday in Belem at the World Leaders Climate Action Summit ahead of the COP30 climate summit.

Missing from the lineup were the leaders of four of the world’s five most-polluting economies – China, the United States, India and Russia – with only the leader of the European Union showing up.
