“That’s not the story here”: Greta Thunberg alleges torture in Israel detention, but spares details
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has spoken out after being detained by the Israeli military along with more than 450 others last week.

Though Thunberg said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) “kidnapped” and “tortured” her and her peers, she did not elaborate, saying she did not want to draw attention away from what she described as “the escalating genocide in which Israel is openly trying to erase the entire Gaza Strip.”

“I don’t want to share what I was subjected to, because I don’t want there to be headlines like, ‘Greta has been tortured,’ because that’s not the story here,” Thunberg told a crowd in Stockholm on Tuesday.t

Before being sent back to Sweden, Thunberg was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, an activist group that set out in August on a mission to deliver medicine, food and water to Palestinians affected by Israel’s war with Hamas.
