Tensions high at BC ostrich farm as protesters face off with RCMP over mass cull
It appears that the cull of 400 ostriches on a B.C. farm ordered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency nine months ago is now imminent.
Despite multiple court battles and failed bids, the cull was deemed necessary after an outbreak of avian flu, and the order was upheld by the courts.
Tense moments at the farm on Monday as supporters of the flock of 400 birds come face to face with the RCMP and the agency that ordered their cull.
The RCMP are now working to clear the property using a search warrant ahead of executing its depopulation order.
