Kimmel returns to late-night, says didn’t intend “to make light” of Charlie Kirk’s murder
Jimmy Kimmel said Tuesday it wasn’t his intention “to make light” of the murder of American right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk, as he returned to late-night television after a brief suspension.
Kimmel became emotional as he delivered his monologue after a nearly weeklong suspension after his on-air remarks about the man accused of assassinating Kirk drew the ire of the Trump administration.
Before Kimmel’s show aired, U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on social media that he “can’t believe” ABC gave Kimmel back his show and hinted at further action.
Kimmel called Trump’s attitude towards him and other late-night television hosts un-American and suggested the president can’t take a joke.
