Israeli military drops flyers, orders Palestinians to evacuate Gaza Strip ahead of new offensive
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dropped flyers over Gaza City Saturday, ordering Palestinians to evacuate south as it planned to expand military activities in the enclave amid its long-running mission to destroy the militant group Hamas.
In a statement issued by an IDF spokesperson, the Israeli army said the area will include infrastructure such as field hospitals, water pipelines, and food supplies.
One resident, displaced yet again, said they were given 15 minutes of notice before Israel dropped explosives on a nearby building, forcing him and his family to swiftly evacuate and leave behind their tents and belongings.
The latest assault threatens to displace hundreds of thousands of other Palestinians, sheltering in the central hub for nearly two years amid the violence.
