According to Food Banks Canada, visits increased by five per cent from last year and are now nearly 100 per cent higher than six years ago.

The Liberals said they are tackling the problem by introducing programs aimed at tackling affordability, but the Conservative leader argued the services aren’t working.

“Their programs do not feed kids. They feed bureaucracy, consultants, lobbyists and Liberal insiders,” said Poilievre.

Food Banks Canada’s 2025 HungerCount report found monthly visits to food banks neared 2.2 million in March 2025. Eight per cent of food bank users were seniors, up from seven per cent in 2019.
