Carney supports Anandasangaree, says gun buyback program is “efficient way” for firearm returns
During question period on Wednesday, Prime Minister Mark Carney defended the gun buyback program, stating that it establishes “a much more efficient way for Canadians to voluntarily return prohibited firearms” for fair compensation.
 
“This government is going to do it right,” Carney said and added, “What the Minister of Public Safety is doing — is doing it right.”
 
This comes after the Liberal government’s plans to revive a gun buyback program for banned firearms on Tuesday. However, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree was recorded questioning the program’s effectiveness.
