Israel’s military force struck the Qatari capital, with the IDF claiming they were a targeting a leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas. The attempt failed, according to Hamas officials.

Qatar, which has often acted as a mediator in negotiations for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas over the last two years, called the unprecedented attack “cowardly.”

“The attack was a 100 per cent treacherous act. It was not known until the moment it occurred,” Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said Wednesday. “All the information being circulated today – whether rumours or lies woven by Mr. Netanyahu – is false,” he added.
