At least two people were confirmed dead in Montreal Monday because of the frigid conditions and ongoing power outages brought on by the winter snowstorm.

An 87-year-old woman passed away after being transported to the hospital in critical condition following a wellness check Sunday night.

Another woman, 66, was found dead during a separate wellness check in Montreal West.
