“I don’t quit”: Poilievre says he’s confident in his leadership despite floor-crossings

Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre says he’s “confident” in his leadership heading into the new year, despite Tory MPs crossing the floor to sit with the Liberals in recent months.

The opposition leader made the statement to Dawna Friesen during his year-end interview with Global News, accusing the Liberals, under Prime Minister Mark Carney, of “trying to manipulate his way to a majority that Canadian voters denied him.”

When asked whether he had reflected following the Conservative’s loss to the Liberals in the last federal election, and how he might approach the next election differently, Poilievre said his focus would remain on affordability – calling it the “single most important “issue” facing Canadians.

He repeated his assertion that a top priority for his government would be getting a pipeline built to carry Canadian bitumen to market.

He added that his message heading into the New Year “will be one of hope.”
