France will deliver up to 100 Rafale warplanes to Ukraine over the next 10 years, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday as his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Paris seeking to bolster his country’s long-term military capacity to fight Russia’s invasion.

Macron also said the European Union should continue to provide Ukraine with “stable financial support in the long term” as a strong signal of backing for Kyiv and a message to Russia that it should not count on “the fatigue of Europeans.”

Speaking at a briefing, Zelenskyy added that Ukraine may consider co-production of the Rafale jets in the future, and that he hoped to discuss with Macron how to accelerate diplomatic efforts to end the war

The deal also includes air defence systems, bombs and drones alongside the Dassault-made jets.
