Global News”Beginning of the end” of US government shutdown could put end to air traffic controllers’ fatigue
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said on Monday that it “appears to be the beginning of the end of the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.”
Directly impacted by the 41-day shutdown have been the nation’s air traffic controller’s who NATCA President Nick Daniels also said on Monday have been working without pay and that “added stress leads to fatigue. Fatigue has led to the erosion of safety.”
“Today, it benchmarks the first time in history that air traffic controllers and other air safety professionals we represent, have received two zero dollar paycheques,” Daniels added.
