France News | Migrants Leave France For Britain On Rubber Boats Amid Macron-Starmer’s Agreement
Dozens of migrants squeezed into three boats to float from France to Britain through English Channel. Migrants left a beach in Gravelines in northern France in a rubber boat on September 27. Dozens more, including children, could not board the boats and walked back to their makeshift camps. Two female migrants died in crossing attempt off Neufchatel-Hardelot early before dawn, local media reported. Notably, France and Britain signed ‘one in-one out’ deal to exchange migrants with each other. British PM Keir Starmer looks to deport undocumented people arriving in small boats through the channel, in return for accepting an equal number of legitimate asylum seekers with British family connections. Some people from Britain have already been deported to France under this scheme through water ways. In mid-Sept, Britain returned first migrant to France under the agreement who arrive on small boats, said British Interior Ministry. Starmer’s Govt however faces mounting pressure to stop small boats taking asylum seekers across the Channel. More than 30,000 people have come to Britain through this route from Europe so far in 2025, reported Reuters.
