The French government on January 23 survived two no-confidence votes, with more expected after Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said he was invoking the constitution to force the expenditure part of the 2026 budget bill through parliament. The key swing group, the socialist MPs, showed their support by not supporting two no-confidence motions, filed by the hard left and far right. FRANCE 24’s Olivia Bizot has more from Paris.
