Speaking with FRANCE 24’s Sharon Gaffney, Dr. Joseph Downing, Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Aston University, says that Emmanuel Macron has faced ‘generation-defining challenges’ during his time as French President and that ‘in the future people will look back almost nostalgically at Macron’ because ‘what’s coming next is not necessarily going to work that well, either’.
