Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-VA) was sworn in on the House floor and delivered his first speech to Congress after winning a special election to replace the late Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) in Virginia’s 11th district. Rep. Walkinshaw’s swearing in brings the Republican majority in the House will now be 219-213, meaning Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) can only afford to lose 2 GOP members on any single vote.
