Venezuela launched a nationwide military deployment on Thursday (October 23) as part of its “Coast Independence 200” exercises, designed to protect the country’s sovereignty and maintain internal stability amid growing regional tensions. During the deployment, Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino warned against alleged covert operations by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), stating that any attempt to destabilise Venezuela would fail. He added that the exercises also respond to what he called a “serious military threat” in the Caribbean region.
