He has also signalled a possible three-way meeting with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following the in-person talks between Trump and Putin on August 15. The White House has described the summit as a “listening exercise” for Trump to understand how to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Just ahead of the meeting, Trump held a virtual conversation on Wednesday with Zelensky and other European leaders, who emphasised the need to protect Kyiv’s interests.
