Super Typhoon Fung-Wong Slams Philippines, Millions Evacuate after Kalmaegi | Firstpost Live | N18G

Super Typhoon Fung-Wong has battered the Philippines, leaving at least two people dead and forcing more than 1.4 million to evacuate. Known locally as Typhoon Uwan, the storm slammed into Aurora province with winds reaching 185 kilometres per hour, uprooting trees, toppling power lines, and triggering deadly landslides and floods across Luzon, including Manila. Authorities have declared a national emergency as the country reels from back-to-back storms, following the devastation of Typhoon Kalmaegi. Pope Leo offered prayers for the victims, while rescue teams continue assessing widespread destruction. Fung-Wong has now moved into the South China Sea, weakening as it heads toward Taiwan, but the Philippines faces a long and difficult recovery.
