Protests Grip Europe Amid Israel’s War in Gaza; Thousands March in UK, Italy, France, Spain, Ireland
Pro-Palestinian protests have gripped parts of Europe. In Italy, protests against Israel’s blockade of the Gaza aid flotilla entered its fourth day. A small group of Protesters clashed with riot police. In response, the police fired tear gas, water cannons and detained protesters. In London, protesters marched in support of the banned pro-Palestinian group, Palestine Action, under anti-terrorism laws. The police arrested protesters unfurling a banner outside the parliament. Similar protests were seen in the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Madrid, and in the French capital, Paris. Thousands also marched in Dublin to oppose Israel’s flotilla blockade.
