#Firstpost Pro-Khalistan Outfit Announces “Siege” On Indian Consulate In Vancouver | Spotlight | N18G

A US-based Khalistani outfit, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has threatened a siege at the Indian consulate in Vancouver. The pro-Khalistan group asked Indo-Canadians to reschedule their visits to the consulate. The group also released a poster showing the Indian High Commissioner Dinish Patnaik with a target on his face. The pro-Khalistan organisation made bizarre claims alleging that the Indian consulates are running a “spy network” in Canada for “surveillance” and targeting of Khalistan supporters. The SFJ belongs to a designated terrorist, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who has over 100 cases running against him in India and has been accused of carrying out subversive activities, including threats to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The SFJ threatened a siege on September 18, saying that the day marks two years since former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s remarks in the parliament, alleging India’s role in the assassination of a Sikh man named Hardeep Singh Nijjar, another Khalistani leader who has been designated as a terrorist by India. New Delhi outrightly rejected the allegations made by Trudeau and called them absurd and motivated. The allegations strained ties between the two countries. The relations were re-established only after Canada’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney took charge.
